OVERVIEW: This position is for a Cage Wash Supervisor for the Animal Care Project. It includes activities for the proper care of onsite animals and efficient operation of cage wash. This person will be familiar with the day-to-day activities, employees, and concerns within the facilities; while effectively managing relationships with customers and clients. Essential Duties of the Cage Wash Supervisor: -
Clean and sanitize animal caging and accessory equipment. -
Dispose of waste from the facility following appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). -
Maintain and perform routine repairs on caging and racks. -
Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on the cage washers and autoclaves, including checking and cleaning filters. -
Process clean caging and accessory equipment appropriately, including putting bedding into cages, autoclaving cages and supplies. -
Assist in sanitation and decontamination in all areas of the facility. -
Understand and follow appropriate SOPs, safety procedures, and quality assurance guidelines. -
Prepare, maintain and submit required cagewash records, charts, logs, and inventories weekly or as requested. -
Maintain a clean and organized work area. -
Provide reports/information to the facility manager as requested. -
Provides daily oversight and direction to cage wash staff. -
Assists with scheduling assignments and ensures all tasks are completed. -
Must possess the ability to lift, pull, push and handle cages, racks, large pieces of miscellaneous equipment, feed & bedding bags and other materials and equipment normally found in a research facility. -
Reports any animal caging and/or support equipment that is not functioning to your managers. -
Maintain and repair animal caging and support equipment. -
Familiar with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for chemicals used in the work area. -
Assists in any contract related activity, as assigned by your manager, to complete the required work. -
Always think safety first when performing daily duties. -
Weekend, holiday, and after hours work is required as necessary to meet operational needs of the work site. -
